Controls/Process Technician
Controls/Process Technician to provide manufacturing, assembly, and test support primarily within the Ames Iowa campus
Position Overview
This position will support, implement, maintain, specify, and troubleshoot control systems as well as collaborate with peers, customers (internally and externally), project management, contractors, subcontractors, IT department, global colleagues, maintenance staff, and vendors as projects require.
This position is responsible for end of line production test equipment, assembly lines, auxiliary and support equipment to support production demands.
Candidate Requirements
Candidate will have or be pursuing a BS in Mechanical Engineering
Troubleshooting electrical controls and power distribution, solid state devices, hydraulics/pneumatics, and PC/PLC software.
Fluid power design and engineering a plus.
Experience designing, developing and programming PLC controls (both ladder and statement list) and HMI (Allen Bradley and Siemens as well as other) along with AC/DC motor controls.
Understanding of PC programming language such as: C, Visual Basic, .NET or Python
Ability to break down complex problems or diagnose in the absence of proper documentation or specific training.
Familiar with fieldbuses (Profinet/Profibus/EIP/DeviceNet)
A high degree of technical aptitude with strong hands on experience with mechanisms and machinery.
Ideal candidate will be a creative designer and problem solver.
Ability to finalize documentation for completed projects.
Ideal candidate will have excellent communication, interpersonal and team building skills.
Knowledge/understanding of machine safety systems and applicable standards (UL508, NEC 70, NFPA 79, ANSI B11, CE would be desired by not required)
Travel: 10 to 20% with opportunities domestically and globally.
Willingness to provide first line on call support.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer.
