9 Part-time 18 hours ago Full Job Description The role The Behavioral Health Skills Counselor is expected to provide in-home, family-centered services including counseling, skill development, and crisis intervention in order to build or restore client linkages with the community, schools, and family, with the goal of alleviating and/or eliminating identified client problems.
The Counselor will engage in services and activities designed to provide identification of, and intervention to support families and prevent or alleviate the consequences of family dysfunction.
A team approach is emphasized with close coordination with other family/client supports and service providers, including schools.
A day in the life of a Behavioral Health Skills Counselor can look like Traveling and providing services in client homes or other community settings.
Assessing and documenting assigned clients behaviors and interactions.
Providing individual, family and group counseling, skill development, and crisis intervention services to clients.
Working as a team member in a collaborative effort with other counselors, informal supports and referral sources.
Working varied hours, including evenings.

What youll need A Bachelors degree in a human services or related field is required.
Two years of full-time experience is a human services field is required.
This position should have a solid background and understanding of the needs of troubled youth and rural communities; in-home behavioral intervention, solution-focused treatment theory, techniques, and process, especially focusing on children, adolescent and family orientation; knowledge of current DSM; knowledge of principles of child and adolescent development; knowledge of family counseling and dynamics; knowledge of community systems; crisis intervention; laws and legal ramifications of laws dealing with childrens rights; and knowledge of chemical dependency treatment interventions.
Experience in skill development and documentation is desired.
Ability to use critical thinking skills to problems solve.
Ability to convey information effectively through speech and writing skills.
Ability to coordinate and collaborate effectively with others.
Ability to manage resources effectively.
Ability to manage ones own time and the time of others.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
