Job Description:
Summary New Student Programs, within the Office of Admissions at Iowa State University, is seeking applications for the Student Development Coordinator position supporting student leadership programs.
Join a dynamic and collaborative team responsible for the innovation, planning and implementation of new student orientation and Destination Iowa State, serving 8,500 new students and 16,000 guests, as well as engaging with 400 student leaders each year.
This position also supports enrollment management initiatives as a member of the Admissions team.
Be a part of creating an exciting experience that is key to new student success and retention at Iowa State.
This position coordinates student leader recruitment, selection, supervision, training, and development for upwards of 400 diverse undergraduate students who assist with new student programs.
These students serve as orientation leaders (Cyclone Aides and Cyclone Aide Advisors) as well as transition program student leaders (Destination Iowa State Team Leaders).
In addition, this position may supervise seasonal graduate assistants or interns.
The successful candidate must have a knowledge of best practices and current trends in presentation technology.
Creating captivating presentations that deliver accurate and engaging student success content for student leaders, new students and their family members is critical.
The position will create student leader curriculum, retreats and trainings that support our program mission, while leading high impact programs that support the personal and professional development of student leaders.
The successful candidate will possess a student-centered work philosophy; strong supervisory skills; excellent organizational skills; outstanding written and oral communication skills including public speaking.
In addition, we are looking for a team member who understands of the value of higher education, as well as the purpose of new student programs and student success and transition issues.
The candidate must be able to demonstrate problem-solving and project management skills.
This person must be available to work outside of a typical 8am-5pm work day for orientation, Destination Iowa State and student leadership programs that may be held on nights and weekends, particularly May - August.
Example of Duties Manages a program to ensure that implementation and prescribed activities are carried out in accordance with the objectives of the university.
Plans, monitors, and manages an internal or external project from initiation through completion.
Leads or coordinates project planning, resourcing, and staffing for assigned program.
Monitors and manages budget and ensures that the program meets the overall objectives of the university.
Develops public relations initiatives, workshops, seminars, surveys, or other activities to promote the program and carry out its objectives.
Acts as a representative of the program.
Participates in project management.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
