Job Description:
The Alumni Relations - Outreach and Events Specialist will be a valuable member of the Constituent Engagement team through the planning and execution of in-person and virtual events, alumni engagement programs, and volunteer management.
This position will oversee most alumni engagement efforts in the state of Iowa, including planning and executing events such as young alumni happy hours and family-friendly events in the Des Moines area and providing guidance and support to alumni volunteers in the state who plan events throughout the year.
This role will also coordinate and provide on-site assistance for alumni recognition events including Honors & Awards, oversee the campus-based Alumni Relations Council, and provide support to special projects, virtual and in-person events, and/or groups such as the Greek Alumni Alliance as assigned by the ISUAA Assistant Vice President of Constituent Engagement.
This position will require occasional evening and weekend work hours dependent upon events.
Summary of Responsibilities Event oversight including coordinating vendors & internal teams, event planning and promotion, event coding, nametags, research, and pre-/on-site/post-event work.
Use creativity to plan and execute virtual and in-person events/engagement activities to accomplish goals.
Serve as staff liaison to volunteers leading alumni groups by assisting with meeting and event planning, execution, and communications.
Attend meetings and events as needed.
Maintain accurate and updated records related to past, current, and potential award nominees/recipients.
o Serve as staff liaison to campus colleagues who also work in alumni relations to foster idea sharing and opportunities to collaborate.
Act as a contributing member of the Constituent Engagement team by attending and/or assisting with other programs and events as needed throughout the year.
Maintains and builds customer, volunteer, and vendor relationships.
