Job Description:
Summary The Office of the Registrar at Iowa State University is seeking applicants for a Registrar Specialist I.
The Registrar Specialist I will join the Certifications and Eligibility team within the Office of the Registrar.
The Registrar Specialist I organizes degree completion processes, performs certifications for veterans and eligible persons using military benefits, and serves as a member of the commencement planning team.
This position requires a great deal of problem-solving and requires collaboration with campus and external partners.
The degree completion process begins when a student applies to graduate from the university.
The team is responsible for reviewing graduation applications and degree audits and communicating with students and advisers to rectify issues.
The ability to interpret the academic catalog and university, college, and departmental policies is key to this position.
As the primary contact for degree completion processes, the Registrar Specialist I evaluates student records for degree completion, maintains the graduation application system, facilitates the implementation of new system enhancements, and provides training and outreach to stakeholders.
The Office of the Registrar coordinates the University Commencement Ceremony each fall and spring semester.
As a key member of the committee, the Registrar Specialist I provides data and logistics support to this working group.
Responsibilities include website maintenance, data collection and organization, and collaborations with campus partners and external vendors.
This position will also be expected to assist with the university commencement ceremonies at the conclusion of spring and fall terms.
Additionally, the Certifications and Eligibility team is responsible for the certification of Veterans and other eligible persons to the U.
S.
Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
The incumbent will assist with the maintenance of required records in support of such certifications, including initial contact with student Veterans and input of information into the Enrollment Manager system.
This position analyzes curriculum, including major, minor and certificate programs, to certify student enrollment according to VA regulations and the appropriate VA chapter.
Veterans served include active military members and former members, national guardsmen, reservists and qualified dependents.

The Office of the Registrar supports University WorkFlex opportunities following an position-appropriate training period.
Evening and weekend hours required for the University Commencement Ceremony each fall and spring semester.
This is a term position with the end date of 05/30/2025 Example of Duties Research, interpret, clarify, and apply varied policies, regulations, procedures, and guidelines, and analyze data and apply judgement.
Provide exceptional customer service to students, families, and individuals from across campus.
Oversee final degree certification process for conferral of the degree Coordinate and certify licensure and credentialing requests Develop, maintain, and/or follow documentation related to policies, procedures, and guidelines.
