Job Duties:
Preparing seed and leaf tissue samples for DNA extraction:
Placing individual seeds into sample plates, visual quality checks, using grinders to process seeds into flour.
Adding chemical buffer to sample plates with liquid handlers.
Extracting DNA from samples:
Adding chemical buffers to sample plates, operating sample grinders, and liquid handling machines, being able to complete scheduled extractions within necessary amount of time, and keeping all samples organized.
Fast-paced lab environment.
Other Non-Test activities:
Unloading consumables (sample plates, tips for machines, chemicals, etc.
) from pallets and moving them into lab spaces.
Un-packaging consumables from boxes.
Discarding of unused seed materials.
Keep laboratory clean.
Accountable for quality and speed of lab work completed each day.
Function as a member of a diverse project team.
Update task tracking tools in a timely manner.
Collaboratively analyze and troubleshoot data quality issues.
Learn the background of experiments and customer projects.
Read and understand scientific literature, participate in meetings and share relevant information with others.
Communicate process improvement ideas.

$18/HR Shift:
1st; Monday - Friday Hours:
7am - 3:
