Summary:
As a Universal Caregiver you are responsible for providing caring and personalized assistance for residents living in our communityThis position will assist residents in all day to day functionsRequired Experience for Universal Caregiver:
High School Diploma or GED preferredPrevious Healthcare, Geriatrics or experience working with the elderly population preferredMust score 85 on Skills TestDesire to work with geriatric population essentialTraining per state requirements Must have current CPR and First Aid certificationMust have a TB clearanceResponsibilities for Universal Caregiver:
Bathe and clean, as needed, both male and female residents by bed bath, shower and/or whirlpoolAssist in cleaning teeth, shampooing/combing hair, cleaning and cutting nails, applying make-up, shaving and cleaning glasses of both male and female residentsAssist residents as needed in dressing appropriately, encouraging usual and appropriate clothingMake residents' beds and change linens as needed, clean up room and closet, picking up unnecessary articles and arranging room neatlyAssist residents requiring total or partial assist with dining, set up food for residents needing assistanceFollow medication administration protocols as identified for each individual residentAnswer emergency calls promptlyAssist residents with bedpan, urinal, and bedside commode or to bathroom as needed and/or as directedCheck and change incontinent brief every two hours or more frequently if neededTake and give notice in writing, vital signs (temp, pulse, respiration & blood pressure), heights and weights as requested, report abnormal or unusual signs to nurse or Executive DirectorReport skin breakdown, pressure sores and changes in residents' physical/mental condition to nurse or executive Director immediatelyClean wheelchairs, walkers, commodes, bedpans and urinals per scheduleReport unusual color or odor of excretions (urine, drainage, stool or sputum) before discarding itAssist in the transport, transfer, ambulation, frequent positioning, provide ROM to residents and all other ADL's as assignedUse measures that ensure resident and associate safetyRequest assistance when lifting, turning and moving residents, using lifting devices when neededTransport to activities, meals and appointments as requestedHelp maintain personal dignity of each resident by ensuring privacy and treating them with respectUnderstand and follow Resident Bill of RightsProvide, direct and participate in activity programming and activity-based care for the residentsComplete Daily Assignment sheets during shift and according to instructions using only authorized abbreviationsIdentify resident before providing careFollow universal precautions and isolation procedures for infection controlMaintain all service areas in clean and orderly condition and keep halls clear of equipmentReport all accidents or incidents observed on the shift they occurredReport suspected abuse, neglect or exploitation immediatelyMaintain all equipment and supplies in proper conditionPerform day-to-day housekeeping functions as assignedPerform specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignmentsClean/polish furnishings, fixtures, ledges, room/heating units, etcClean, wash, sanitize and/or polish bathroom fixturesEnsure that water marks are removed from fixturesClean floors, to include vacuuming, shampooing, deodorizing, and disinfecting solutionsDiscard, waste/trash into proper containers and reline trash receptacles with plastic linerClean vacant rooms as assignedDiscard infectious wastes into appropriate containersCollect, launder and return clothing of residents per identified schedulesNotify the Program Director or Executive Director of any problems with residents' apartmentsPrepare and assist in serving meals in accordance with the menu and recipesAdhere to residents' special diet restrictionsProvide proper food transportation, plate-up and portion controlEnsure that residents and guests receive high quality food in a timely fashionInteract with residents daily to ascertain their views, suggestions and concerns on meals servedReport any unusual incidents to the Program Director, Executive Director or Manager on dutyRespond and assist with any resident, staff, guest or campus emergencyAssist in the dining room to ensure that food is served properly, and cleanup is prompt and thoroughConnecting Seniors, Families and Communities For over 37 years, our senior living communities have served seniors and their families across Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, and Tennessee, with each location offering unique services including independent, enhanced, and assisted living, as well as memory care and rehabilitation and skilled nursingThrough forming authentic connections and committing to creating the absolute best experiences each day for our residents and their families, we've created a special culture within our communities that allows our employees to do their best work and our residents to shine every dayNot Just Making Every Day GreatMaking Every Minute GreatThere are 1,440 minutes in every single dayWe aspire to make each one of them an exceptional momentThis philosophy is supported by our 6 powerful, yet simple pillars:
