The Department of Horticulture is seeking applicants for a Clerk IV who is responsible for providing accounting management and budget support to faculty, staff and students in the department. Responsibilities of this position include managing daily financial accounting, acting as purchasing agent; conducting transactions, such as intramural billing, scholarship awards, processing domestic and international travel authorizations and travel expense reimbursements. In addition, this position will assist faculty with the grant submission process, and oversee and manage the graduate student application process. This position will coordinate public relations efforts with faculty, staff, and students including logistical supervision for departmental activities and operations. The incumbent will serve as the primary point of contact and is expected to provide a high level of customer services for faculty, staff, students, alumni, donors and visitors.
The duties of this position require the ability to identify, interpret and remain current on policies and regulations related to domestic and international travel and grant submissions; apply unit, institutional, state and federal policies accurately; interpret financial records; prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks with frequent interruptions and competing deadlines; make decisions requiring interpretation and judgment; communicate effectively both verbally and in written form; and work independently and efficiently while promoting a positive work environment. Commitment to collegiality is essential for this position to support the vision and mission of the department, college, and university. Any combination of progressively responsible related clerical office experience, related undergraduate education, and/or post high school clerical training that is the equivalent to four years of full time employment.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
