The University Human Resources Department at Iowa State University is currently seeking applicants for a Human Resource (HR) Consultant to work under the direction of the Director of Human Resources to provide support for both the Employee, Labor Relations and Recruitment offices. Responsibilities of this position include providing advice, assistance and referrals to college and department personnel regarding employee and labor relations issues in administering the collective bargaining agreement, the merit system rules, and ISU personnel policies, procedures and practices. Other responsibilities include providing guidance to department personnel and staff regarding FMLA, and Worker''s Compensation; providing support to HR liaisons, supervisors and employees to maintain operational efficiency; and performing research as needed within human resource policies and practices to enable ISU to remain the premier land grant institution in the nation. In addition to helping to support the Employee and Labor Relations and recruitment functions, this position is responsible for providing administrative support to the Director including but not limited to managing calendar appointments, preparing documents, drafting communications, and ensuring deadlines and processes are followed. This position serves as the first point of contact for the department and assists in coordinating, facilitating, and conducting University Orientation sessions for new employees.
The successful candidate will possess the ability to exercise independent judgment to determine the type of situation and disseminates cases and appropriate information to the applicable personnel. The candidate will also possess strong interpersonal, decision making, and problem solving skills for complex, potentially difficult situations. The ability to work effectively with a diverse constituency of faculty, staff, and students; excellent oral and written communication skills will be essential for success in this position. Bachelor''s degree and one year of related experience OR a combination of related education and experience totaling five years. Experience must be at a comparable level and directly related to the duties of this position.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
