Iowa State University (ISU) is seeking to fill a full-time Human Resources Liaison for the department of Information Technology Services (ITS) and the Office of the Vice President of Research (VPR).
ITS provides core computing, networking services, and applications to support learning and teaching, research, administration and student life for Iowa State University. ITS includes a diverse technical staff dedicated to meeting the wide range of campus information technology needs.
The Office of the VP for Research is responsible for supporting and advancing research at Iowa State University across a broad range of disciplines in science, engineering, arts, humanities, social and educational sciences. In partnership with the seven colleges, the VPR Office helps build research capabilities and infrastructure, provides support for innovative, interdisciplinary research, and facilitates strong relationships with sponsors and collaborators. This Office provides the administrative services and facilities that are needed to enable research excellence and knowledge transfer. The Office of the VP for Research ensures awareness and adherence to principles of ethical research conduct and compliance.
This split position is responsible for developing and administering departmental personnel processes, procedures, and policy, and will provide expertise and counsel to the CIO (Chief Information Officer)/VPR and Directors in matters related to human resource management. Duties include oversight of classification, compensation, performance management, recruitment, staff retention efforts, departmental reorganizations and training. This position represents ITS and the VPR Office in human resources committees and meetings, and reports to the ITS Director of Administrative Services, with shared supervision from the VPR Operations Director.
The successful candidate will have the ability to work with a diverse population and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with supervisors and staff across two large divisions. This position must present a high level of confidentiality, collegiality, and ethical standards. Bachelor's degree and four years of related experience or a Master's degree and two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience totaling eight years. Experience must be at a comparable level and directly related to the duties of the position.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
