What does a Dakota Security Installation Technician do?
Travels to facilities where Dakota Security Systems customers are located.
Relocates, changes, installs or removes security systems equipment including video surveillance, alarm, and access control components.
Reads technical manuals to learn correct settings and installation requirements for equipment.
Measures, cuts, installs, and splices wire and cable.
Connects security equipment to data communication lines.
Checks functionality of newly-installed equipment to evaluate system performance.
Updates drawings to document installation details of security equipment and components.
Demonstrates and provides system training to customers.
Identifies and replaces malfunctioning or inoperative equipment.
Completes required paperwork for each project, including documentation of labor and costs to date as well as work performed.
Provides security equipment status and service reports to management and recommends actions, such as equipment update, replacement or relocation.

What Education/Experience do I need to be a Dakota Security Installation Technician?
Previous experience in the Security Industry is preferred, but we will train the right candidate!
Associate's Degree or higher in an electronics field is a plus. Applicants should have basic knowledge in one (1) or more of the following areas (the more the better!):
Electronics principals, testing devices, multimeter and schematics
Computer hardware such as hard drives, network cards, etc.
Computer desktop and server operating systems
Network fundamentals such as switches, routers, etc.

How much does a Dakota Security Installation Technician make?
Dakota Security offers very competitive wages for our employees. This is a full time, hourly position that is eligible for overtime as needed. Starting wage for this position will be determined based on your experience and qualifications.

Are there any other requirements I should be aware of?
Candidates must be able to travel, have a clean driving record, pass an extensive background check, be comfortable working at heights up to 30 feet and in small, confined spaces. Please note that this position requires the employee to be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
