GLOBAL QUALITY MANAGER - TUROLLA Located in Ames, IA this position is responsible for providing leadership and guidance and for maintaining the quality management system used in all Turolla plants. Leads directly the Ames Turolla Quality team and the other Turolla Quality team(s) local team leader(s). Responds with commitment and sensitivity toward satisfying the needs of internal and external customers. Pro-actively researches and implements changes that affect the global Turolla facilities. Also provides recommendations and direction to others regarding the use of quality tools including but not limited to ISO 9001 and ISO TS 16949, statistical processes, PPAP/APQP results and other quality concerns. Participates in or facilitates 8-D problem solving teams. Trains others on several quality topics in a classroom setting. Develops new ways to better facilitate quality processes or functions. Influences and encourages continuous improvement with respect to quality and quality processes. Maintains and builds upon relationships with all Turolla plants. Reports to the Turolla VP & GM and is a member of the global Turolla Leadership team.

Responsibilities:
Quality Management System: Plans, participates and analyzes in internal audits. Is responsible for continuing the ISO 9001 certification. Drives the organization to reach ISO TS 16949 certification by end of 2016. Assures that an appropriate site quality management system is developed and maintained consistent with business and regulatory needs. Coordinates correct reporting, visualization, accurate and timely communication of the quality policy, quality principles, and quality performance.
Leads Others: Formally and informally leads others in making good safety decisions, improvements on quality and generally improving processes at Danfoss. Establishes a participative environment by being a role model, providing and facilitating communication, building a team atmosphere, and recognizing/fostering individual and team development. Helps to remove barriers. Provides visionary leadership and encourages creativity. Demonstrates personal flexibility in approach and ideas, responds positively and drives changes in procedures, process and technology.
Leads Proactive Projects: Initiates and leads projects that span the entire plant. Educates others on the need for the change. Tracks progress and communicates improvements to large audience.
Training: Able to train people at all levels of the organization on quality tools and/or quality initiatives in both a formal and informal setting. Technical Mentor and developmental coach for Quality Engineers in Division. Ensures that Quality engineers are technically competent to perform their essential duties. Provides necessary checks/controls and development plans if a Quality Engineers is lacking competence in a specific area.
Continuous Improvement: Looks for and works to eliminate waste in processes. Including but not limited to the quality processes such as Change Management, PPAP documents and the Corrective Action Process.
Demonstrates flexibility in approach and ideas, responds positively and supports changes in procedures, process, technology, responsibility and assignments.
Maintains cooperative and productive working relationships and communications with all employees, participating effectively as a team member or as a team leader. Encourages and assists in self-improvement.
Demonstrate a commitment to maintain a safe, clean and orderly work area. Follows safety regulations and actively contributes to work safety.
Your
Qualifications:
MA/MS degree in Science or Engineering with a focus on quality/statistics in a manufacturing environment. Demonstrated proficiency in Design of Experiments, Multivariable Analysis of Variance, Hypothesis testing, and SPC methodologies.
At least 5 years' experience as a quality professional
Must have an extensive knowledge of quality management tools and how they should be used. Six Sigma black belt is preferred. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Knowledge in ISO 9000 and ISO TS 16949
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, prints, gage diagrams, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Proficient in Microsoft Office products- especially Word and Excel. Understanding and ability to use macros and pivot tables in Excel. Familiarity with Minitab and SAP.
Organizes and prioritizes work assignment to complete assignment/task on time with quality and has the ability to anticipate problem areas in advance.
Applies creative approaches and ideas to solve problem, maximizing effective use of appropriate resources. 8D training is preferred.
Maintains cooperative and productive working relationships and communicates with all employees and customers. Participates effectively as a team member.
Encourages and assists in self-improvement.
English speaking skills
A previous experience in automotive or similar business would be an asset
