Commodity Risk Advisor

FLSA Status: Exempt
Summary: The Crop Nutrient Risk Advisor is principally responsible for development and execution of risk management strategies for the Crop Nutrient Business Unit and the Aligned/Platinum owners. This position will monitor, advise, initiate, and execute fertilizer swap trading activities in order to mitigate position risks and at times take advantage of market trading opportunities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Possesses understanding of financial derivatives (futures, options, and OTC instruments) used to hedge price exposure and enhance margin opportunities
Collaboration with the Procurement Team will be essential to better understand the physical markets and assist in making purchasing recommendations for our owners.
Work with FC Stone to provide the resources for our owner to implement sound risk management strategies through our owner risk management program.
Responsible for identifying, monitoring, and liquidating company fertilizer swap trades
Demonstrates strong analytical capacity in commodity trading and research
Displays knowledge of agriculture commodity supply/demand fundamentals and is able to analyze and forecast grain price direction.
Negotiates and executes swap trades with trading firms
Assists owners with their understanding and management of position risk and helps them develop fertilizer risk management strategies to mitigate their financial exposure
Ability to clearly disseminate information of position risks, risk management strategies and market intelligence to owners and US internal staff
Must be familiar with current trends, trading protocols and clearing services in the OTC market
Assists in tracking and analyzing physical and paper positions and engages with accounting, Director of Business, Director of Procurement and VP to track risk exposure
Provides training for owners and US internal staff on various aspects of risk management
Creates graphs, reports, and presentations for owners and US internal staff
Helps to prepare material for various risk management education and market outlook meetings
Participates in internal market analysis meetings to provide information and data along with challenging market opinions
Develops and maintains relationships with trading firms and industry professionals
Other projects or duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience ? Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Agribusiness or related subject; plus a minimum of three years related trading and risk management experience in commodity, currency or energy markets; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills - Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents: Capable of writing reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, supervisors, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills - Ability to apply concepts of basic math (add, subtract, divide, multiply) in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Capacity to compute rate, ration, and percentages.
Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Skills to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills - Experience in Microsoft Office include strong skills in Excel and PowerPoint and database programs.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
