Research Microbiologist/Veterinary Medical Officer

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below. In addition to meeting the basic requirements described below, applicants must also meet additional qualification requirements as stated below FOR THE 403 series ONLY. GS-12:
Applicants must demonstrate at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service or possess a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or possess an equivalent combination of graduate level education and experience. Graduate education must be directly related to the work of the position and must have equipped applicants with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. The specialized experience requirements for the GS-12 level of this position are:
experience conducting independent research for animal viruses; developing or improving techniques or procedures within the experiment or research process; and publishing independent research results in peer-reviewed journals and making presentations at scientific and stakeholder meetings, related to animal virology. GS-13:
Applicants must demonstrate at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. The specialized experience requirements for the GS-13 level of this position are:
experience leading, coordinating and conducting research for animal viruses; developing or improving techniques or procedures within the experiment or research process; and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders on research of mutual interest; and primary authorship of peer-reviewed journals related to animal virology. In addition to meeting the basic requirements described above, applicants must also meet additional qualification requirements as stated below FOR THE 701 series ONLY. GS-12:
Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal Service is:
experience conducting independent research for animal viruses; developing or improving techniques or procedures within the experiment or research process; and publishing independent research results in peer-reviewed journals and making presentations at scientific and stakeholder meetings, related to animal virology. GS-13:
Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal Service is:

OR Education:
In order to qualify at the GS-12 or GS-13 grade levels on the basis of education, applicants must successfully complete relevant graduate study or a dual DVM/graduate degree as described below at an accredited college or school, in addition to completing the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or an equivalent degree mentioned above under Educational Requirements:
GS-12:
Master's degree in an area of specialization, including but not limited to, animal science, avian medicine, food safety, infectious diseases, veterinary clinical sciences, pathobiology, biomedical sciences, veterinary anatomy, veterinary preventive medicine, comparative biological sciences, epidemiology, veterinary parasitology, molecular veterinary biosciences, public health, microbiology, pathology, immunology, laboratory animal medicine, toxicology, wildlife, zoological animal medicine, or sciences related to the work of a veterinary medical officer position. GS-13:
Ph.D. degree in any of the above specialties or related sciences. OR Residency/Post-Graduate Training Programs:
Residency or post-graduate training programs require 2 to 5 years of study in a specific discipline or specialty. Successful completion of such training qualifies the job applicant for the following grade levels:
GS-12:
Successful completion of 2 years of an internship, residency program, or fellowship training program in a discipline related to the position such as veterinary microbiology, immunology, or pathology. GS-13:
Successful completion of 3 years of an internship, residency program, or fellowship training program in a discipline related to the position such as veterinary microbiology, immunology, or veterinary pathology. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To be considered for this position, you must submit a one-page abstract of your MS thesis and/or Ph.D. dissertation. Also, submit a list of names, addresses, and phone numbers of persons familiar with your stature, contributions, recognition; any honors or awards received; memberships in professional or honor societies; invitations to make presentations at scientific/technical meetings; scientific society office and committee assignments; presentations (other than invitation); and publications. Applicants must be available to report for duty at the time a selection is made. Selections are typically made within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
